it’s like riding a bike

Excuse me, but have we met? Yes it’s me, Anette. Don’t you recognize me??? Please, you’ve got to believe me. It’s me. Really, it is. I’ve come back…to, to update. I know it’s been a while, but I have been busy with life and have not had the time to snap very many photos–my apologies. But, I’ve had a blast while on holiday! So here’s the 411–do people say that anymore? Here goes: my little sister got married (eeek!), 2 cousins were also wed, a new niece was born (yay!), got addicted to baking and party planning, planned 3 parties, celebrated 5 years of marriage (awe), had a birthday & went to Maui (eeek!)…and I cut my hair. The end. Not only am I updating in classic random rambling form, but I am also providing personal photos…some fashion oriented, and others not so much. But, hopefully, hopefully I will get back to the fashion. On with the show:

See you soon!

moon river

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I’m crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you’re going I’m going your way.

Two drifters off to see the world.
There’s such a lot of world to see.
We’re after the same rainbow’s end–
waiting ’round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

excuses, excuses…

Merethe Hopland by David Wang for Kenton Magazine via Fashion Gone Rogue

Excuses, excuses. (I warn you, this post is pure rambling with a bit of entertainment, and eventually, ends with a simple point.) Enjoy!

Remember that horrible month, January, when I didn’t have internet? Oh, the agony. I know, I still have nightmares about it, and if I had a therapist, I’d still be getting a bill for the sessions spent on the emotional scars lingering from my internet deprivation. But, my point is….going an entire month of not updating my leetle blog…it was terrible. Did I mention it sucked? I remember, back in January, I had to dash to Starbucks (Stat!) for the Wifi, or else the very breath of fashion blogging life would leave my Louboutins.

And then, after what seemed like an eternity (it was 30 days), poof–it came back! My dear sweet internet and I reunited! *insert green open field shot of me and internet, personified, running in slow motion towards each other with an epic symphony playing in the background* Too dramatic for ya? Sorry, I’m visual…deal.

All that to state the obvious, again: It felt so good to have my internet back, blog, and have true meaning in my superficial life. All was right in the universe.

Then, April came around, and I got my new job, so it was time to focus, get serious, and be a grown-up of sorts. Plus, I had a new schedule, a bit more time consuming, and less free days to hang out with my blog. So there, I had a good excuse…err reason…not to update…right? Ok, so I admit it! I neglected my blog. I broke the cardinal rule of blogging: update, update, update, post, post, post. It’s not neurosurgery Anette! Put a editorial shot up and call it a day. In my defense, Excuse me for having a work life and a social life to balance! But sadly, I managed yet again, not to update my blog for more than a month! Though, this time….I had internet! I turn away in shame. *insert knuckle bite and cringe here*

Now, it’s June, I’m pretty comfy with the new job and nearly adjusted to the schedule…and my grown-up self kind of loves it…shh, don’t tell anybody. But, where did my blog go? Do I still have anything to say, to share, to post? Do I still have an audience? Do I still have a wardrobe worthy to be photographed in the clichéd blogger pose?

Well, it’s obvious in reading this post (if you’ve gotten this far) that I haven’t lost my talent for tangents and ramblings. But, I guess it’s like having a pet, a plant, or a kid…I have none of these, so why would I be an expert on taking care of my blog? You have to water it, feed it, take it for a walk, spend time with it, change its diaper. Well, no, it’s not like having another living being to care for at all. C’mon, I’m not that dense and superficial. Duh, it’s simply called having a hobby, and news flash, it’s fun! So sparing you any further drama…all I have to do is find some free time to sit on my couch in my pj’s and glamorously blog on the art known as style and my favorite sport, fashion. Now, that shouldn’t be so difficult…right? Time to get back to my Vogue and Champagne….
